With stressful and weird times comes the need for ease and positivity, and there isn't much of that going around. As a positive person it's strange to see the whole world be negative and lose all hope that things will work out in the end, and it's hard to not fall into that negativity yourself. Staying at home without being able to leave the house can be draining, especially when a lot of us have online school and work, so it's important to find things to do.

You likely clicked on this post because you wanted to know ways to stay positive during social distancing and who better than a positive person to give you suggestions on how?

Now, there's two sides to this... you can do things you ENJOY and do things you have YET TO TRY.

Here are some suggestions...

1. Bake or cook

This is my personal favorite because I love to find new recipes, make new recipes, make unhealthy recipes healthy and so on. It can't hurt to try. Here are some places you can look:

  • Youtube

  • Recipe books

  • Cooking shows

  • Recipe websites

2. Exercise/Mindfulness

This one's a lot of fun because you're not limited to only one sort of exercise. There's pilates, dance, yoga, HIIT, or a combination of some of them. The sky's the limit, so really... you have no excuse. Find additional info on this in the article "How to stay home and in shape". For mindfulness, all you really have to do is take 5 minutes out of your day to sit outside in the sunshine (if you have a balcony) or even just sit in a quiet area and take your focus out of stress. Here are some places you can look:

  • Certified instructor fitness plans

  • Certified instructor youtube channels

  • Certified instructor books

3. Read a book or write a book

I know that not everyone enjoys this tremendously but it's a great way to be away from the screen and focusing on different things. It's also great for your brain functions as well your vocabulary. As for writing a book, think about 20 years from now... what books will be on popular demand? To be completely honest writing a book when bored seems like a pretty interesting thing to do and who knows if something you started out of boredom could turn into something amazing. Here are some places you can look:Here are some places you can look:

  • Amazon

  • Youtube videos (you'd be surprised how many reading channels there are)

  • Online book stores (avoid leaving the house)

  • Search engines (whatever search engine you use, there's bound to be some interesting things)

4. Keep a journal

This one kind of goes hand in hand with writing a book. Keeping a journal is a cool way of keeping track of everything going on at the moment, and like I mentioned, you never know what can come out of it. This doesn't limit you to writing diary-type entries, anything you could put in a journal is welcome; time management, to do lists, and so forth.

  • Amazon

  • Online shops (you can customize it, make it eco-friendly, and choose your favorite)

5. FaceTime your friends/watch shows and movies

This part is a mouthful but FaceTiming your friends is a great way to stay connected and updated with one another. You could even watch Netflix or something similar while FaceTiming each. While your at it you might find yourself watching shows or even movies that you've not only seen before but maybe something you have seen.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you stay safe at home. And I sincerely hope that this article serves you not only for now but for a later time. Stay Safe!
