#1) MAKING A TIMETABLE
First thing's first, you will need a blank timetable, which the energy aiders have provided you with [download by clicking here], but if you prefer another format here are some you can download by clicking the text below:
If you wish to make your own timetable digitally, instread of printing the timetable out, then you can do so using google sheets or excel.
#2) TIME MANAGEMENT
Once you have your timetable printed out, you can now start planning out your studying! We have also provided you with what recommended hours for studying your subjects are (including leaving time for CAS, TOK, homework, and freetime). Also, we recommend leaving at least a couple hours a week for socializing with friends (e.g. leaving fridays blank for hanging out).
The energy aiders have also created an example timetable above with a key for the colours [NOTE: the saturday and sunday have the same schedule].
RECOMMENDED HOURS:
[HL] higher level subjects → 4 hours per week
[SL] standard level subjects → 2.5 hours per week
CAS → 3 to 5 hours per week
- 1 hour for sports (activity)
- 1 hour for creative
- 1 hour for service
TOK → 1 to 2 hours per week
[HW] Homework→ 1 to 2 hours per day
Free time → 1 to 2 hours per day
#3) WHAT TO STUDY
We recommend that for each HL subject that you take the time to go over everything you have learned in the past week in around an hour and a half (rewrite notes, make a quizlet for each lesson/ topic ect.) and for SL subjects try to do the same within around an hour. This means creating a mini To-Do list for each week, which you can do using our template below [download by clicking here].
