This past Wednesday, the 22nd of April was the 50th Earth Day. What is Earth Day you ask? Well, it's a day where everyone comes together in order to celebrate the beauty that is the Earth! The point of this post is to comment on what the spirit was like, especially during such uncertain times, along with share some places you can find detailed information for next year or if you're looking to be more environmentally conscious.

Beginning with comments, I must say that Earth Day was a true show of how much people not only care about the Earth but also how much people are still thinking about the Earth even when quarantined and unsure about what's next. Personally, the Eco Committee at our school created a template where we could share what we're doing for the Earth and tag some of our friends or family members to do the same. And as mentioned, despite the low spirit which has been around recently, I found it incredibly heartwarming how people chose to share their experiences and thoughts on Earth Day. This reminds me of an Instagram comment I saw on Wednesday which mentioned how Earth Day should be everyday and to be completely honest, it should. It's imperative however, that just like Mother's Day or Valentine's Day, where you have a day dedicated to expressing appreciation for those around you, there's an Earth Day, dedicated to expressing our appreciation for the Earth! As Juliane puts it, Earth Day felt "ordinary because everyday is Earth Day" so keep that in mind! With that being said, here are some places you can look and should follow to continue Earth Day beyond April 22nd.

This is an amazing Instagram page which, despite being based in Australia, has tons of useful information that people all over the world can follow and share. They have Weekly Earth Updates as well as are constantly posting Plastic Free Tips.

2. Earth Day Website: https://www.earthday.org/

The official website for Earth Day which provides activities and things people can do all year in order to help the Earth as much as possible. This year the theme was Climate Action, and as such, the website provided a whole lot of information about the day. They have interactive things such as this Foodprint Calculator which gives you a whole array of Climate Calculators to track yourself.

Twitter can be a place with very mean comments but it can also be a place to share beautiful moments, and that's exactly what people did in the above link. Some people mentioned things they saw or posted photos which showed their appreciation for our Earth, which is incredibly inspiring!

4. National Geographic:

These links, despite being similar, show a great load of articles and ways you can help the Earth one step at a time and on a day to day basis. The UK link, although technically being for kids, has a variety of informative pages where you can explore Earth Day in detail. Similarly, the US link, gives an array of things you can do to do your part in saving the Earth. Finally, the April Issue provides a number of articles and informative posts about Climate Change, Climate Activists and so forth.

For every 4o or so searches Ecosia plants a tree! It's ever-growing and can be added as your main search engine, and on top of that it has pretty much everything Google has. I truly recommend at least reading about them!

Thank you so much for reading this post! It was incredibly fun looking more into Earth Day and providing you with access links so that you can be informed for next year! Also make sure to keep a lookout for Instagram and Twitter pages or even websites with more information, and make sure that if your school has an Eco Committee and/or Club, to join it and contribute to the improvement of our world. And if your school doesn't have one, make one yourself!
