"I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick." - Audrey Hepburn

I know that what most people want to do right now is put their school work to the side, sit down on their couch or bed and get right into Netflix/Hulu/Youtube, or even read a book. Although this sounds tempting and doing nothing is all you probably want to do, it's equally important to take the time to take care of yourself, i.e, PAMPER yourself! In case you don't know what pampering means, it's basically taking care of yourself and making sure your mental and physical self is healthy. It's also important to do things that you can balance with all this IB work.

In today's post we break down the 5 things you should be doing to pamper yourself!

1: Exercise

"Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands, they just don't" - Elle Woods

First things first is taking care of your physical health. As I explained in my last post, there are many forms of exercise and websites you can go to. Juliane wrote a detailed article on exercising during social distancing so go ahead and check that out. My favorites are Blogilates or Yoga with Adriene.

2: Take a few hours to yourself

"Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, it's at the end of your arm, as you get older, remember you have another hand: The first is to help yourself, the second is to help others." - Audrey Hepburn

Doctors and psychologists alike have stated on various occasions that taking a few hours for yourself to decompress from the stresses of life is incredibly important. You can visit Harvard Medical and check out our recommendations below.

3: Away from the screen

"In a world of algorithms hashtags and followers, know the true importance of human connection." - Unknown

I understand the irony in me writing this, but nonetheless, now more than ever people have the chance to sit down and take the time to read a book, organize and clean their house. At the same time however, people are spending more time on their screens, working and/or spending their free time on it. So as soon you've read this, grab a book and sit down for a few hours. If you have nothing new to read you should revisit your favorite book. Once you've read for an appropriate amount of time, try exercising (go back to my first point) and maybe even cleaning your room. After that, you've probably spent a good number of hours away from the screen, at which point your body hasn't been strained the whole day. If you're reading this when social distancing is done and over with, hanging out with friends by having a picnic in the park, getting coffee or shopping is also a great way to get away from the screen.

4: Take the time to cook

Cooking is something most people will have to do throughout their lives and for that, it's probably a good idea to cook something that you'll enjoy. Finding recipes online is an option but nothing compares to recipe books, so go ahead and order some or if you already own some, skim through them and select your favorite recipes. The more the merrier because like that, you never get bored of what you're eating. Check out your local bookstores which you can either physically go to once social distancing is done or they usually have websites to order from. Especially now, supporting local businesses is essential, so if you can order from them that's great and if they're not open look on Amazon or Goodreads, which provides different store options.

5: Eat Healthy

“From the bitterness of disease man learns the sweetness of health.” - Catalan Proverb

Eating healthy is an essential part of life which we've touched on multiple times here on Energy Aid. Go ahead and check them out... for sustainable eating and for studying. Going back to the previous point and this post, eating healthy is important now more than ever so you should be eating and cooking for the part. As aforementioned, there are plenty of recipe books and websites out there, and usually they come with grocery lists or grocery list guides. Furthermore, pinterest has tons of great options for every type of diet (vegetarian, paleo...) and every type of eater, picky or not.

Thank you for reading yet another one of our posts, and if you have any suggestions for my next one (it could be more on social distancing, school related...), go ahead and leave them in the chat box or contact me at our email.

Till next time!
