Taking notes is one of the most important parts of learning and especially for revision so we hope these tips help make your life easier!

tip #1

ALWAYS make a small summary at the end of the topic. This helps strengthen your knowledge and helps you see just how well you've understood the topic.

tip #2

Making checklists is a good way to make sure you've included all the central topics and concepts in your notes so that you know what is missing and what subject you're struggling with so you know what to look over. This also helps to keep your notes organized. We suggest using sticky notes.

tip #3

boxes separating important/extra information (for example, your examples and formulas) can help you when it comes to looking for them later. Or if you find that there is no space left on your page, just remember, sticky notes are very handy in these circumstances!

tip #4

creating a large margin can be useful in many different ways, for example:

  • you can simply add your questions there so that you can be certain that you have completely understood.

  • you can add the titles of the subject there so you can easily and quickly locate where a specific topic is in your notes

  • if you don't like tip #3 you can always add the additional information you feel is important for you here too

tip #5

REWRITING NOTES IS OKAY

often, we may convince ourselves that time is of the essence (even when its not) and we often try to avoid things that take extra time, including rewriting out notes, however, we would strongly disagree! In fact, we encourage you to do so because it helps make sure your notes are more comprehensible and are more neat for revising when it comes to exam week. We suggest you do this everyday afterschool for around an hour so that you're given a chance to check over things you didn't understand, to search up, or add additional information you may have missed during the lesson.
